August 8, 2017 SHARE: Reading time: two minutes. We’ve been looking at one key word from Ephesians 4 each week as we reflect on the Wellness Wheel. Today it’s verse 28: “He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.” Mom gets it. One of the first lessons she taught us was to share. It’s the way of God. It’s the nature of the kingdom that all who have received would share. It’s the way the creation works, and when we’re at our best, sharing is what we do just because it comes so naturally and so joyfully. Look around you! God’s world is a sharing place! We had a fantastic, gully-washing, good old-fashioned Midwest thunderstorm the other day. The clouds rolled in and didn’t hoard their life-giving water. They burst open and poured out the quenching, refreshing rain on the dry parched ground. Within hours the rivers rose as the land freely gave up its excess. The rivers poured out their abundance into the sea and the oceans shared their waters back into the sky as the clouds formed again. The world is designed as a sharing place. As the summer sun beams down on the flowers of the field, they spread their petals open, freely offering their treasures. The bees swarm to the pollen, fertilizing as they go. The fruit of the harvest is offered up for all to share. God’s world is a place of sharing. Our earth is too small to spin around the sun in a circular orbit. The gravity of the sun would whip us through space in a wide, wild ellipse, sending us too close to the sun, then firing us frantically too far away to sustain life. Enormous Jupiter shares the mass of her gravitational pull, bringing stability to our orbit and life continues according to the Master’s design. God’s universe is a sharing place. A seed falls to the ground and dies, bringing forth a harvest of life. The Son of God gladly shares His life blood for the sins of the world. It’s God’s nature to share that all would be enriched. The new nature in Christ is generous. Wellness, wholeness, balance, fullness of life is sharing. Celebrate the joy of sharing! Thanks for reading.
