Chuck grew up on a farm in North Dakota and went to college in Fargo at North Dakota State University where he met his wife, Loree. He is a proud Bison and maintains close friendships with many from college, currently serving as a trustee for the NDSU Foundation. After completing a computer engineering degree, Chuck moved to Colorado to work in high tech where he and his wife have lived their entire adult lives.

Chuck and Loree are members of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fort Collins and have been blessed with three adult children who live in Texas and Colorado.
