Why Every Teen Needs Strong Christian Friends

It is no secret that life can be difficult.

It can be hard to get up in the morning. It can be hard to make friends. It can be hard to stay strong in your faith. How can anyone be expected to make it through life alone? According to the Bible, we’re not. God wants us to find comfort in Him, but He also wants us to have friends that we can rely on.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 states, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

Christian friends can help you and support you in your faith. And you can help them as well. The support that comes from having another human pray with you and believe what you believe is priceless. Sometimes it’s nice to have a conversation about your problems with someone who understands why your problem is especially hard for you, morally or otherwise.

I only have a small number of Christian friends. Most of my friends are atheists or of some other religion. I love all my friends, and I don’t think that friends who aren’t Christians aren’t great friends. But having a few people with whom I can be totally open with in my religion helps me a lot in my life.

If I am having trouble understanding what God wants me to do in a certain part of my life, asking an atheist friend might not be super helpful. I am confident that I can trust my friends with my problems, and I am especially confident that I can trust my Christian friends with my Christian problems.

Having Christian friends who can check up on you is beneficial as well. They can be upfront with you if you start to wander. A good Christian friend will help you survive your teens and walk with you through life.

God created friendships for a reason. All you really need is one solid friendship with someone who has faith like you and they can help you. If you don’t already have a close Christian friend, pray for one. God just might send someone your way, if you are willing to try.

Having friends who support you, Christian or not is an important thing in your life. Everyone needs a little help once in a while. Don’t be afraid to ask for or provide support.

Find comfort in God and your friends. You can rely on them. I promise.
