Marketing

The Marketing intern will assist the team members in the Marketing & Customer Support Department of Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) in attracting new customers and assuring satisfaction of current customers. The department includes Media Communications, Customer Relations, Investment Processing and Regional Marketing. The intern will be involved with projects throughout the various areas of the department including:

  • Participating in the development of marketing materials
  • Producing written or artistic content for various media outlets
  • Providing support for the management of promotional items
  • Analyzing survey results for projects as needed
  • Developing graphic design elements for print and interactive marketing

Qualifications

  • Working towards an advertising, communications or marketing degree
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Base knowledge of social media
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Helpful but not required: familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud

Commercial & Retail Lending Internship

The Lending intern will work with the Loans and Real Estate Department, which is responsible for loan origination, loan underwriting, loan documentation and loan servicing of all loans to borrowers throughout The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod church body. Borrowers include congregations, schools, church workers, districts and recognized service organizations. You will have contact with the chief credit officer and be involved with projects throughout the various areas of the department that would include:

  • General financial industry trends and best practices for loan underwriting and/or loan processing with a focus in the senior living industry
  • Special Projects
  • Develop minimum guideline for loan covenant reporting
  • Intra-department rotation:
    • National Lending
    • Loan Resolution Group
    • Credit Review
    • Loan Processing
    • Loan Operations

Qualifications

  • Working towards a business, pre-law or finance degree

Information Technology

The Information Technology department is responsible for the integrity and security of systems and information used by LCEF; mission-critical core data processing applications; the development of end-user applications and systems; and provides office automation services for internal as well as deployed LCEF associates.

As the Information Technology intern, you will be involved in a summer-long project to review and test existing software and critical procedures within multiple departments to verify their accuracy and completeness. In addition to the primary project, you may have the opportunity to work on other smaller projects, such as analysis of Excel data, Excel/VBA development or web development.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a computer science, business or finance degree
  • Completing sophomore or junior year of college
  • Interest in process improvement
  • Good people skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • VBA – Excel / VBA skills a plus
  • Interest in software usability a plus

Ministry Support

Ministry Support partners with LCMS ministries to define opportunities, design solutions and align resources that propel the Kingdom forward. The Ministry Support intern will work with the Ministry Support department which consists of:

  • Ministry Clarity – Includes VisionPath, Ministry Mapping, Ministry Messaging, Experience Design, and Ministry Clarity Coaching
  • Ministry in Motion – Includes Feasibility Studies, StewardPath, Immeasurably More Campaigns, Laborers For Christ, and the Architectural Advisory Committee

The Ministry Support intern will be working closely with the Director, Ministry Support Advancement in the following ways:

  • Becoming familiar with the work of LCEF in general and the processes of Ministry Support
  • Creating templates for LCMS ministries to use during their Immeasurably More campaigns:
    • Newsletters
    • Brochures
    • Campaign booklets
    • Social media content
  • Traveling to some of our congregations/agencies and supporting the work of LCEF Ministry Support
  • Learning and optimizing Basecamp – Ministry Support’s project management software

Qualifications

  • Working towards a business, communications or marketing degree
  • Affiliation/Membership with an LCMS or other Christian denomination, strongly desired
  • Located in St. Louis, Milwaukee or Chicago
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Design skills a plus
  • Available to travel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Completed sophomore or junior year of college
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
