On January 15, 2022, Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) announced that the new Kaleidoscope Fund grant process is open. Anyone eligible for the grant will be asked to submit a grant proposal summary for review by a committee. The proposal submission deadline will be June 1, 2022.

“The Kaleidoscope Fund is an additional avenue for LCEF to support the work of the Church,” said Rev. Bart Day, LCEF president and CEO. “When we have a good year, we can pass on those blessings to strengthen Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) ministries in the form of this grant.”

Eligibility is limited to LCMS K-8 elementary schools. Schools that are Recognized Service Organizations (RSO) are not eligible as LCEF Articles of Incorporation, and Synod Bylaws prohibit LCEF from distributing net operating results to Auxiliaries, RSOs, seminaries, colleges or universities of the Synod.

The grants focus on four categories: Faculty Wellness, Curriculum Development, Technology and Student Engagement/Outreach. Funds will be granted in amounts between $10,000 and $40,000.

“Because the face of Christianity is changing,” Day said, “our schools have become outposts for the proclamation of Christ. We rejoice in Lutheran educators who teach the core academic subjects and the faith in our schools. We share a fervent passion for supporting and empowering their work in any way we can—like the Kaleidoscope Fund.”

Those interested in applying for a Kaleidoscope Fund grant must complete a grant proposal summary. The deadline to submit grant proposals is June 1, 2022.
