High School Seniors: Win a $3,000 Scholarship

February 1, 2018 | Posted by Demian Farnworth

Calling all high school seniors!

It’s that time of year again. We are now accepting essays and applications for the 2018 Take Heart Scholarship!

To apply, you must be a high school graduating senior and a Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) investor. In addition, you must be accepted by or intend to be enrolled in a vocational school, community college or four-year institution as a full-time student.

LCEF will award up to three students scholarships valued at $3,000, $1,000 and $500.

How to apply

Each year, LCEF poses an essay question designed to provoke thought about how young people can be good stewards of the gifts God has given us.

This year’s question is no different.

C.S. Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity, “Every faculty you have, your power of thinking or moving your limbs from moment to moment, is given you by God. If you devoted every moment of your whole life exclusively to His service, you could not give Him anything that was not in a sense His own already.”

In 1,000 words or fewer, how does this quote apply to your life and experiences? As you move beyond high school, how will it change?

Scholarships are awarded based on the overall strength of your essay. Visit our scholarship page to learn more and apply today.

May God bless you and strengthen you in this endeavor–and all things–through Jesus Christ! Amen.
